BlackBerry Bold 9000 Engineering Edition
Hello.I want to ask some questions about my BlackBerry Bold 9000
1.What is a VSM and what is the OS ?
2.How can I find out if my Bold has the engineering edition turned on
3.How can I find out what OS version I have ?
My Bold has the VSM VSM-11697-001
I also want to find out what the branding version is. - 03-24-2011, 02:16 AM #2
1.) VSM files identify the phones branding. they will determine what the splash screen looks like and which various wallpapers and other carrier media will display.
2.) chances are, if you are using a VSM ending in 001, as you are, its either a genuine or reflashed engineering model. i reflashed my old Bold with this VSM back in the day. you can verify this by the startup splash screen. instead of a carrier logo, you will have the RIM logo which will state "Property of Research in Motion. For Engineering use only, not for resale" or something to that effect. also, by pressing ALT + H will bring you to the Engineering menu, not the "Help Me" screen. engineering units will usually show a Vendor ID #0, and factory unbranded will be Vendor ID#1.
3.) to find your OS, goto Options > About
the "branding version" as you called it, is the VSM file you listed. which i think will be Vendor ID 0 - 03-27-2011, 06:22 AM
