Default Blackberry Bold 9000

I'm a college student thinking of purchasing a bb bold 9000. I know i can probably get an android or iphone. But I'm using simple mobile and I just want a cheap reliable phone with internet and some apps. I'm planning on mainly using this for internet to search the web, email, fb, and maybe google maps. About apps im probably going to use three. So im wondering is this phone still good in the year 2011 as well for 2012?

It is equal to or better than other phones that came out three and half years ago, and they sell for about $100 used. However the web browsing and media playback is far below what new Android devices or iPods do these days. Web browsing is painful, there is no flash (none on iphone either though), and a web page with lots of javascript will bring the phone to it's knees. It also doesn't play media anywhere as well as new phones, the screen is 2.6" @ 480x320 resolution; compare to LG Nitro HD with a 1280x720 (HD 720p) full color 4.5" multitouch screen, or Samsung Galaxy S (TM) II Skyrocket with 4.3" 800x480 AMOLED and actual battery life. I still use my 9000 for now though.

I think the ideal AT&T phone for Blackberry users might be the just-released Samsung Captivate Glide - a 4.0" touchscreen Android phone with a slide-out querty keyboard about twice the size of a Blackberry's. They are $150 with a new contract.
