Aftermarket keypad with the red numbers ok???
Everytime I changed out parts on my old Nokias with aftermarket stuff. They quality was bad.
Some keypads I bought made me press the keys harder or at a different angle to get them to work, so I always went back to the factory keypad.
For everyone on AT&T that swapped out the all white keypads with the red number ones from cnn.cn have you had any problems? - 12-12-2008, 04:32 PM #2
Try a thead search. I'm almost positive there was a thread on this.

I just switched mine last week. I'm not noticing anything different from the all white keypad. I love the red look.

i will say i did not have good luck with my red numbered keypad from Cnn.cn.
It would not let me press two buttons at the same time and keep the command. (for example holding down the ALT key and typing multiple numbers), i had to tap ALT, then the number and repeat till i was done.also it didn't register keypresses during fast typing.
Switched back to the AT&T keyboard and its all working fine againOnce you buy crack, you never look back - 12-12-2008, 07:22 PM

Well - I have had 2 one worked and on one the left shift key stopped working - so 50/50 again...

Doesn't sound worth it, just to change the colors... are you that concerned with the color of the numbers on the keys?
Sounds kind of stupid to me... Taking a known good keyboard, and risking it over a minor change in cosmetics. Go figure! - 12-13-2008, 01:28 AM #12
Aarrrgghhhh.... not this again....

CNN's bezels are "OEM size", not OEM.... use the search fuction of this or any other BB forum. They are not the source of the bezels for RIM.
Also, take a look at their website... even the graphic on the bezel is different on their version (i.e.- it's absent!)
And... do you really think RIM has a 50% failure rate on THEIR keyboards? - 12-13-2008, 01:35 AM #13
You consider 50% failure rate based off of 4 users? I'm assuming you must flip burgers for a living...
I'm not taking my bold back apart just to check markings but if the bezel is in fact AM it is very high quality. This is coming from someone that use to have NEXTEL housings manufactured in china...
You don't work for them so you have no idea where or how they source their products. I had OEM LE NEXTEL housings for sale that were never suppose to have mass availability to the general public... - 12-13-2008, 01:48 AM #14

Awesome, a fight!!!
Well...I'll tell you who the winner is. The bezels and keypads sold by cnn are NOT oem. I called RIM last week on separate days and talked to 2 different people to verify. They both informed me that they do not sell any of there parts to outside vendors to sell. I told them they need to add a part store on there site then and one of them said he has been pushing for that for years but they will not because they don't want people taking their phones apart to change parts due to user ignorance basically.
I'll bet a black bezel since I fricked mine up since I learned it is all black so if I scratch that on badly it will not look like my scratched silver one.
