.297 Issues
Hey all,
I wanted to post this thread to get some consolidated opinions out there on .297 and see if anyone else is having the same issues as me with this build.
I have run pretty much every single leaked OS (4.6 series) on my Bold and the last build before .297 that I used was .282.
I am having the following issues:
1. Can not connect to WiFi at all (yes, battery pulls don't work)
2. Extreme memory leaks - start at 42mb and down to mid teens in a few hours
3. Rebooting - obviously happens due to me not catching the memory leak before its too late.
4. Access to my memory card is crazy slow.
Programs running in the background:
Messages - Standard
Phone - Standard
Home Screen - Standard
VVM - This is the most likely cuplrit IMO
BBM - Standard
SmartGuard - Have had this on previous builds with no issues
Browser - Standard
As you can see, the only nonstandard program I have running in the background is SmartGuard. I have been using this program for at least 3 builds with no issues, so I doubt it is the problem. The only difference is now I have VVM on this build. In the past, I had always removed it via loader.exe and did not include it with my install.
Does anyone else feel VVM is the culprit here or better yet, is anyone else having these issues?I > U - 08-31-2009, 12:59 PM #2
Hmmm... Ive been running 297 since it came out and I haven't had any of these problems you've stated. Why don't you try reflashing your device? Those things aren't normal. If you weren't having them with 282, then TECHNICALLY you shouldn't be having them with 297. Just give it a fresh install, not an upgrade.
if that fails, fall back on 282, or go to 301. - 08-31-2009, 01:02 PM #3
I haven't had those issues at all.
wifi great
memory good, never below 29mb
no reboots
Thumbnails used to load slow but it's better after a few days. (about 3 seconds each.
If you think VVM is causing it, delete it and see. Then delete other apps that could be the culprit.iTouch & EVO 4G - 08-31-2009, 01:38 PM

Yeah, it did a full install to begin with. I'm not sure what is going on with all of this. Non of the issues are making the phone unuseable, just annoying to have to do a battery pull every day. I have my phone passworded so auto runs with quickpull aren't an option.
I guess my best bet is a reinstall. What do you all think of a wipe first? Just to start from scratch, might be worth it.

Did you resend your service books from ATT BIS after the upgrade? My WiFi would not stay connected until i resent them...

The wifi problem is the greyed-out issue. It says my network name, but it won't show the white wifi symbol until I re-register the host routing table. And once I leave home and come back again, it does the same thing again. Very annoying. Had it on 282 as well.
I'm also having the slow access to my memory card. Sometimes when I select a song to play I get the waiting clock for ages before the song will start to play.Mobi·gas·mic!

I did resend the service books.
My WiFi issue is that it wont connect to the DHCP server. Shows the network is there, just won't connect.I > U - 08-31-2009, 03:49 PM #8
For me, wi-fi stayed greyed out (even after re-sending service books) until I deleted all three of my saved profiles and reconfigured. Works perfect now.
I also have all those apps running (except smart guard) and my memory stays consistent around 46 mb.
I do not have VVM configured yet as I'm not 100 percent sold on the idea but it runs in the background anyway as does BBM... neither ran before the upgrade.
Access to my 16 GB memory card is somewhat slower than before but not bad enough I want to scream... yet!
It took me a few days to sort everythig out but I'm pretty happy so far. - 10-13-2009, 03:24 PM #9
I find that I am resetting my phone 4 or 5 times a day! Extreme memory leaks like never, ever before. Even deleted some apps not often used but no matter. Fresh wipes, fresh installs. Nothing seems to work. I can only blame it on .297. Going to try .303 and see how that works... Wait! I'd better catch up on my reading there before moving up. Ok, I'll post back and let you know how the memory goes there...

.297 seems to be working ok for me as of now.
