.297 is best platform ever?
I think so.
Fully charged, since 11 am this morning running the following apps:
SocialScope
Berry Weather
Google Talk
Google Voice
YouMail App
Smart Guard
Google Sync
MemoryUp Pro
Pandora
And heavy internet usage through out the day, and i am down to 80%!
So far, no leaks, no problems with media, boots up fast and I am extremely happy. Memory has been consistent at about 27mb to 35mb since I downloaded this puppy on Tuesday.
My Bold has not responded this fast, since I first thought it was fast back in April! AT&T came through, and well worth the wait. Big difference from .282.
Anyone else agree? - 08-27-2009, 04:00 PM #3
I haven't seen a noticeable difference over .292.

I never used .292 but I can say that it seems to be a marked improvement over .282 my battery life is noticeably better. Also seems like pictures seem to load a lot faster.

when i upgrade my phone to .297 couple of days ago i did have a huge memory leak. but i always have my quickpull schedule every night. after that my memory has been steady between 40-53 mb. i have pandora, myspace, scoremobile, poynt, app world, vvm, google map and espn installed.
one problem i saw on mines is that my picture loaded slower. thats weird that yours loaded faster. i wonder whats wrong with mines... - 08-27-2009, 04:08 PM #6
I have as many apps loaded onto my Bold and have around 44 mbs floating around. My phone has been performing even better than before and it wasn't that bad to start with. I am extremely happy with this update. It makes it a little easier to wait for the 5.0 update. Visual voicemail is awesome. The web browser is a lot faster and I have noticed that some pages render better. I also enjoy being on 2G and increasing my battery life. Way to go RIM!

I am guessing everyone has different views on this build. But I haven't had to do on battery pull since! On 75% rockin on Battery life. Man I love this build!

I've decided .297 is the last 4.6 OS I'll install. Things are running smooth, and I'm very happy with it. Tired of messing around with all these upgrades... rather end my Bold experience on a high note.
Bring on the Onyx... - 08-27-2009, 05:40 PM #15
While I'm enjoying the MUCH better battery life and better reception compared to .282 I'm experiencing serious memory leaks.
I run quickpull scheduled every morning, start with about 42mb and here at 630 EST I'm at 34. And I've been doing almost no browsing or anything much today. Yesterday I was down to 24.

I have noticed the internet being faster as well...videos loading without the error notification..memory improvement.and faster overall...This will probably be my last upgrade as well ...as the wait for 5.0 continues.......

Slow card scans suck.

So far so good. I'm impressed.
VVM is lovely
Thumbnails were slow to load the first day but getting quicker each day .
Memory is holding nicely above 35MB
Battery life is still fair.
I cant say it's the best yet until I'm certain that I don't get calls failed on 3G. Still testing.iTouch & EVO 4G - 08-27-2009, 07:14 PM #19
this OS is great, after reading a hundred memory leak threads, i've finally figured out what i think to be wrong, memory leaks(for me) don't happen unless i do a 3rd party app restore, when i installed .297 and restored all my apps and left beejive open over night i went from 41mb to 19 while the phone was idle, so i tried removing beejive, and reinstalling it from the phone, memory leak solved, i believe the memory leaks to be caused by corruption during restore, so for me from now on, i will only restore contacts, and manually put my apps back on...

Battery life on my phone is still going strong. I **** you not, im down to three bars.
lol. I too, had to reinstall only berry weather and quick launch which I lost all my stuff, but, who cares, i got time to fix that later.
How are people complaining? That's what I don't get. - 08-27-2009, 07:56 PM #21
I had been using .247 for a long time before updating to .297. I have to say that the battery seemed to last longer on .247 by a decent amount for me. There seems to be a memory leak as well but idk because the memory I start with after battery pull is so much more than on .247. Overall I like the build but as with all OS releases, there are always tradeoffs.

Not quite ready to say it's the best platform ever, but I like what I see thus far. Three days with no reboot, and still at 30 Mb. Battery life is manageable.
Came from .247, which was rock solid, so the jury is still out. - 08-27-2009, 09:35 PM

Haha, its 10:30 pm EST, as of 11 am this morning, very heavy usage, I am down to 1.3 bars.
The best, by far, battery management of all platforms, IMO. I could be that MemoryUp Pro is the help in this too... I am so happy. Sorry if I am posting a lot, but, this is just such a good platform. - 08-27-2009, 09:38 PM #25
Of course you've been on EDGE all day correct?
