| | voice activated dialing
I am a new BlackBerry user and am amazed that someone has not written software that allows me to highlight or designate a name in my Address Book, select a telephone number, e.g., home, mobile, etc., say their name, or another designator, and have the BlackBerry dial the number. Any hints / tips or leads to an application will be appreciated. Thank you.

Are you looking for instructions on how to use VAD or what are you trying to do?

I'm a former Palm user. Palm's software allowed me to select a name in my Address Book, select a telephone number, e.g., home, mobile, etc., say their name, or another designator, and have the phone dial the number. The software recorded my voice / designator and the associated telephone number. That's what I'm looking for for my BB.

I want to add a list of 50 - 60 individuals, along with an associated telephone number and have the BB allow me to designate the individuals, and their number(s) via my voice command, just like my former Palm phone did.

Doesn't the pearl have a VAD button that when you press it, it says say a command, and if you say call NAME, it will call that person?

VAD? deleted it with joy. The last thing you need to happen is to be talking about someone and have your phone call them..

I use VAD all the time. I jsut click the button my my bluetooth, say the name of the person I want to call, and say which number to call (mobile, work, home...). Very helpful when driving.

Curve has it, I love it. Sometimes if I'm not clear it doesn't register or dials a different number, but as long as you speak clearly it's great.
