So what is the point? Are you suppose to go to all the places on the places list? They don't seem to be land marks. I just don't understand it at all

foursquare I just wish this and loopt were more popular and actually had things listed that are in my town. Kind of pointless right now.

It's a game. You check into business and places you visit. If you visit them the most you become mayor. You can battle other people for mayorship, earn points and badges. They say that some places will give benefits to mayors of their business.

It was a mashup of foursquare/twitter/etc that pointed out why broadcasting all your personal info and exact location all over the internet might be a bad idea.

Well for example I went to a resturant the other night. I checked in and checked out my foursquare. One person that "checked in" there wrote a tip about having this soup. So I tried it and it was great. That's when I realized the point of four square.
