| | slacker bugs?
i have 9700 on t-mo with os .330 and slacker basic version 2.0.83. i have 1 cached station. everytimes i cached the station...it keeps getting larger and larger...initially the slacker folder on my sd card were about 300 MB last week and now...it is 679 MB. does it get larger and larger everytimes u sync ur cached station? if it does...i may have to get rid of slacker...i dont want to take over my sd card.

Obviously, It depends on a lot of factors, but usually it depends on the length of the songs individually. I believe each Slacker station caches approximately 100 songs per station. If the songs are shorter they take up less space, if longer, they take up more space on your SD card. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.
They all (songs) have the standard formatting that Slacker uses, so I don't think this would be a factor.
The only other situation I could think of is if the station is not getting cleared out properly as the newer song structures are downloaded. If this would be the case, 1) you could always delete & reinstall the app, or 2) delete the slacker folder in your SD card, and when you sync again, the Slacker Station Loader will recreate the folder on your card fresh.
Hope this helps.

It shouldn't get that big it should just replace the existing info with the new one. Try contacting Slacker customer support. Ask a Question

2.0.91 I believe is the latest 2.X version. Maybe go to slacker.com from your device and see if an upgrade is there for your 9700.

Slacker STARTS with the 100 songs then adds/deletes songs that on are on the playlist. Except while it may not play them anymore, it doesn't delete them. But most of the time, they update the software often enough that you wind up re-installing and resetting the sd card anyway. At least that's what I do- completely delete the old, then clean out the SD card, then install the latest version.

The Slacker Station Loader does everything for me. As mentioned, I do have wildly fluctuating numbers for what is within my Slacker folder on my SD card, but that is just due to the length of the different songs on it. Every time you sync, you will see it state "Refreshing Slacker stations" or "Updating Play Logs". This is when it goes out with ther old, and in with the new.
Actually, I'm not too convinced that there was a problem (Maybe the higer numbers shocked you), but I Sync 8 stations, and your numbers are VERY low to me even considering you have only a single station.
With that said, keep an eye on it. It may just be normal use. But, now that you know the fix, it is easily remedied from this point on.
EDIT: Just so you know, I have an 8GB card, and I also cache plenty of PodTrapper episodes (audio/video), and I have yet to go below 5GB. Ever.

I believe the "slacker.synclaucher" that you mention is the same thing, except that you are running it directly from your SD card. I personally have never used this feature and don't know enough about it to say anything. But If you log into your account on a computer you can download the Station Loader, and manage it from there.
I am not saying to sync again now. I am just saying that when you DO sync, keep an eye on what is happening. You may not be having actual problems, and it may just be the fluctuations from the downloads.
If you continue to have problems with "ERRORS" while syncing your stations, try using the "check disk" utility found on any windows computer. This should fix any corrupted files on your SD card without losing any information like formatting does.
BTW: I am using the free version.
Hope this helps.

ok here is an update...since my first caching for just 1 station several days ago (and have not update since) with the slacker folder size of 125 MB...today i uncached that 1 station...so just hook it up to my laptop and ran the slacker sync...it only took like 10 seconds for the successful sync...look at the slacker folder again and it is still 125 MB!!!
at this rate, if i keep adding new cache station...it just keeps growing bigger and bigger. if i uncached the station and my slacker folder still remain the same...then it is a big bug! why doesn't it delete the files if i uncached the station?
i suggest everyone to watch out for their slacker folder size when u cached and uncached!!! slackers will eat up memory on ur sd card! if u dont want it to fubar...get rid of this POS app!
