| | Slacker 3.0
Does anyone know a release date for this? Have been searching through the web to no avail. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Well if you can't find any information what does that tell you?

Maybe consider a question mark at the end of your subject. If there was a 3.0, I might consider trying Slacker again. Right now I'm more than satisfied with Pandora, and the Slacker app is so poor, I really wish I could just delete the download icon. (Yeah I know I can hide it and did - but even the 2k the icon takes up feels like this crap service is still costing me something it's not worth.)

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | Why do you hate Slacker so much? I use it and Pandora and I'm very happy with both of them. What is "so poor" about the Slacker app? Let me guess-the 2 second ads? Well they gotta pay the RIAA somehow!

Well they gotta pay the RIAA somehow! | It's not the ads I'm talking about, though I don't like them. I don't think Slacker can handle the transitions from wi-fi to 3G/EDGE. Every time that happens, the app locks up for 30 seconds to 5 minutes. It also deducts one or more "skips". When all the skips are gone, I have to log in via pc to free up the account. This usually happens within an hour of listening if I'm moving around at all. If I stay in one place, Slacker is great I like when I'm going to sleep.
Of course this is all relative to their newer versions. The older ones simply didn't work at all if I was using both my bluetooth stereo headset and wi-fi. So I give Slacker credit for fixing that. However they need to fix their handoff and skip issues before I'll try them again.
And, as you said, audible nag ads every third song or so is annoying, and in my opinion a little excessive. Those ads don't pay any bills. If they sold real ad space, maybe they could produce revenue on par with real radio. Funny how my "skips" never skipped the ads. (I actually, in 2 years of fighting with it, never manually hit the skip button. )

Pandora might be useful if it didn't murder the battery. Until they add caching they are going to have a tough time pulling over a lot of the slacker users (not to mention they didn't used to have the higher quality setting so the audio sounded like a tin can).
And you're not really going to get any information on 3.0 until it's officially released because everyone is under nda...

The one thing different however with this beta is you can "cache" for free during the 14 day trial, then after you have to upgrade to the Slacker Plus, streaming is still free however.
Works great on my S2

Um...are you any type of sure on that? It's out for Canada, yes. I don't want to have music 'specialized' for Canadian taste though.

Why not install and see for yourself instead of asking out here, not like it's gonna blow your phone up....lol

Yeah, I've been running the Canadian version on my phone for a few weeks. They don't say "aye" in the music, it's ok.

There is no way the Canada version pulls from the same music catalog as the US version. I find it very hard to believe it's the exact same licensing agreements.

I've used 3.0 since the day they released it on their website, which has been more than a few weeks now and the lineup is the same on mine as it was in 2.0, I listen to it everyday so I think I would know if they changed it.
Not exactly sure what you think Canadians listen to
Lastly, as stated in my above post, why don't you install and find out yourself, you can always uninstall if your not satisfied, it is still FREE

P.S. Am pretty sure (someone correct me if wrong) the whole reason for 2 different versions has to do with network and not "US or Canadian" music.

I don't know how two posts in one thread about Slacker makes me a troll. It's not like I've been thinking about this forever, nor cared THAT much to sign up on their forums to make a post. They did have a live chat though, so I just asked there.
It's not about what Canadians listen to. It's about licensing agreements. I pay for Slacker, I don't want to have a hindered music catalog. That's why I haven't installed it.
