Problem with Google Sync

I just made a gmail account and downloaded the gmail app and google sync. My phone has a buttload of contacts whereas my gmail has none. I'd like to sync my contacts from my phone TO my gmail account but google sync seems to fail in doing so. Are there any alternatives to sync these OTA? I found Conjola Sync but I guess you need to pay for the new versions (wicked lame).

google sync is more trouble than it's helpful. it truly screws up calendar entries and doesn't sync contacts. for me, the easiest way to setup google contacts was:
1. sync bb -> outlook
2. export outlook contacts -> csv
3. import csv -> google
takes 5 min, i do it like 2x a month

There's no OTA solution? My friend claimed he got his working both ways, he'll be showing me tomorrow though

Google Sync IS a problem. Don't give yourself headaches with it.

When I used Google Sync it made a complete mess of my calendar entries, made over a hundred duplicate entries, changed appointment times and dates. In the end I had to delete my entire calendar, and restore the calendar from a previous backup.

Contact sync seems to be working now, maybe it just took a while... But as previously said my calendar is screwedddddd

U must go into options at google sync and pick sync contacts!

I had a problem with google sync. Birthdays for example would start off as say April 14 and blackberry would make it in the calendar for a whole day event, all of a sudden, my entry for my friends birthday on April 14th had all of a sudden started on April 13th at 8pm and end at 8pm on the 14th.

It did that for almost all my day long events like my pay days and stuff.

I ended up deleting my google calendar and starting with new one, and now seems to be alright

Sounds like a setting issue with what is defined as a work day.
