This is my first time downloading Poynt but I just don't get it...Aside from the movie listing feature, it doesn't seem to have any advantages over Google Maps especially when you are ultimately brought into Gmaps to get directions.

Am I missing something here?

Are the listings more up-to-date or something?

It does for me.

But I don't like how it doesn't show me most of the theatres in Montreal (mostly Guzzo Cinemas). Makes the application quite useless.

Cell site still doesn't seem to be working on my Storm, keeps waiting for GPS when indoors. Any ideas what to check?

I thought the latest version was supposed to use cell tower location instead of true GPS for us Verizon users (at least that's what the news at berryreview.com says), but the version I just installed (1.0.1.59) just says "GPS not supported".

How do I force mypoynt to use the nearest cell tower as my location?

Nevermind...I just did a business search and mypoynt is definitely using cell towers because its finding businesses right near me, I just didn't realize it.

I'm having the same issue with my 9530. If I have my GPS set to 911 only, Poynt doesn't find my location using the cell location.

If I enable GPS location, it works fine.

I don't get how the locating works for this app.

If I click on "Map It", program fires up Google Maps and there is the usual blue dot blinking with a blue circle around it which says "your location within 180 meters". Now, there is also a red pointer that says "Cell-Site Location" and it is not even within the blue circle, in fact it's no where near it. The search the program does is based on that "Cell-Site Location", which is completely off and gives horrible results.

I realize this probably only happens with Verizon Curves (since the GPS is disabled for this app), but the cell tower locating is so bad the program is useless.
