However, just today we discovered a flaw that prevents the initial setup of Pandora over "Wi-Fi only". So basically you do need a mobile connection (and data plan) to run Pandora on the BlackBerry for the first time. However, after that it's possible to run it over Wi-Fi only, even after Pandora is shut down and restarted. This will be fixed in our next point release. We have receive a few other reports of this, so you aren't the only one who uses a BlackBerry without a data plan. Quote:

Sorry if this was already addressed. I didn't look through the thread completely | You may need to change your BlackBerry Browser to run in "BlackBerry" emulation mode. From your web browser select MENU -> Options -> Browser Configuration -> Emulation Mode and make sure it's set to "BlackBerry"

| | Wifi only, no data plan
I'm in the same boat. I do not have a data plan and do use wifi only. I have 1.0.3 but can't run it since the first time you run it you can't set the options.
When it loads I get the message: "Got APN via wifi...testing". But no luck. I can't wait for the new release Marc. I use Pandora from my desktop all the time.
Thanks.

Marc @ Pandora | Great. That worked. Someday BB will get smart and use a better browser so this isn't an issue.

It kinda works on my 8900 phone. However, it will start pausing intermitently. It's doing that with other 8900 users as well. There are other threads on this form and another forum addressing it. Not sure if its specifically an 8900 issue, a Tmo issue or both. I've Pandora on my work computer for a while. But, then my employer recently blocked. So this sucks.

Hey Marc, Don't know if this issue has been noted for the Storm users. When I am listing to a song and I get a Email/SMS/MMS/BBM/Any Type of alert it pauses my music does the alert then restarts the song. Thanks for putting up a great product!

Click | It's kind of buried in a bunch of other info, but in my original post I wrote "Still no resolution on audio issues encountered by some Storm devices (songs starting from beginning after a call, not auto-advancing, etc.)" What you are experiencing is one of those audio issues. Trust that we are working to resolve this as quickly as possible! Quote:

For wi-fi we use a 64k audio stream, which should be easily attainable over a broadband-connected wi-fi network. If your wi-fi is slower than that for some reason, you may want to disable wi-fi in your Pandora options and just have it play over the mobile network.

Not only that but it will use a lot less battery since the radio isn't being used.

First off,
Again thanks to Marc for having a presence here in these forums. From the day Pandora was released for the Storm the Pandora guys have been involved in providing assistance as well as listening to feedback and WHAMMY...now there's already an update!! You guys rock.
Second, I was a huge Pandora fan before I got my Storm, so I was disappointed to hear it wasn't available. I then discovered a similar program - Slacker. Now that they are both available, here are some thoughts.
I like the look and feel of Slacker. It seems to have been customized and polished for the Storm a little better than Pandora. I also like the music selection better with Slacker - I find I get a core music genome that is better defined with Slacker. However, I love the fact Pandora actually responds lightening fast compared to Slacker. With Slacker I would wait and wait, then hear a song, then wait and wait etc... Pandora logs on fast, starts playing songs immediately, and has a smooth transition between tracks. I also like that there are no on air commercials. And lastly when connected to my car or home stereo via Aux input, Pandora clearly sounds better than Slacker. Maybe Slacker sounds better using the Storms internal speaker, but when its going through an actual speaker system Pandora ROCKS the sound quality. All in all Pandora is the choice for me; it's faster, has fewer glitches, sounds sharper, Marc is in the forums, and I like the name better.
Keep up the good work guys. Thanks!!

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | hehe its like night and day,Pandora has that AM mono radio sound while Slacker gives FM stereo.
PS, to all Pandora lovers.
I'm not trying to insult your LOVE of Pandora..The UI is pretty sweet yet sound is sour,It has No cache which is really big deal saving battery life and getting best sound possible-no broken record skips.
Hopfuly Pandora kicks it in high gear improving sound quality and adding cache feature soon ,I really want to give app another go,
