The BlackBerry has a Garbage Collector. If you don't police your device the
GC will do it for you. Guess which method you are going to like the least
25+ apps I never look at my memory unless someone brings it up. 100+ days
without a reset and I have lost NOTHING. I'll keep doing it my way and leave
your app to the foolish people who think it will make an ounce of difference.
Sadly, it will not. And if you knew what you were doing you would already
know that. |
listen, you might be leaving in a RIM dream world but the rest of us arent. i put a theme on my phone and memory drops to 10mb, i leave viigo open so it can update, my memory drops 20mb.
you dont like this app? fine, move on. there are many people who feel differently than you do.
you mention policing your device, maybe some people dont have the time or dont want to. Or they migtht want to use this app as part of their policing.
listen i have spent alot of time on this app and alot of time on other free apps for the blackberry community and i dont see where i have earned this kind of trash talking. lots of people are thankful for this app, if that drives you nuts, i am sorry.

world only fosters the baseless, and non informed opinions as to how memory
is managed and how the BB works.
I am sure you spent a lot of time on this. A better use of your time however
would have been spent learning how these things work instead of creating a
solution for a problem that for all intents and purposes does not exist.
I'll leave you to pimp your non solution to the sheep.

I wonder what other apps are considered pointless to this guy. I think he/she has a phone made in heaven. Need me one of those as memory seems to fluctuate sometimes for the good, sometimes for the worse. I think this app is pretty cool, though I never tried it. I guess you can say Missing Light and Berry Buzz are pointless too, while you're at it. "You can just keep checking your phone. I don't know why anyone would need these." Don't worry Mike. I agree that this app is good and helpful. Apparently, to each his own.

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | lol thanks man, i guess i wont be adding him to the notification list for future updates
i respect his opinion, and have tried to explain mine, but i dont like when people start saying i dont know what i am talking about or that comment about a dev should know better. I wrote an app people asked for and I thought was cool and whatever someones reasons are for using this is their business.
i gave my ideas why i think someone would use this app, and people have given me new ideas i have never even thought of.
for example a bunch of people have said the app helps them find apps with big memory leaks, which can of course happen, by alerting them that memory dropped below their set point, otherwise they would not have known that app caused the leak, especially if they didnt notice it by checking memory manually several days later and possibly after other changes or installations of other apps. i never thought of this for a use for the app, but i think its clever.
lol so whatever your reason, i hope you enjoy my app. if you have a phone as perfect as ag, more power to you!

Yeah people don't think thoroughly enough before they speak. I didn't even think of that which app causes a leak reason. I guess because some people pray for a miracle app that will make their memory stay at a certain point. But since none exist you made a program to help keep memory in check. I still haven't tried your app and probably may not use it but reading the description I thought it was pretty nifty. But I may give it a go later in the future. Still, good job on the app. And in case anyone asks why don't I just install the app, it's because I'm lazy lol. I just applied a BSE so I just wanna play with whatever is on my phone now haha
Oh, and by the way, your app is similar to a battery meter--it pretty much just monitors memory instead. So I don't know why ag is making a fuss outta this. He/she probably didn't know just how useful this app can be. Yeah, reading these forums are amusing.
EDIT: I just read the original release thread. I didn't know it's $2.99. Lol I guess being lazy isn't the only reason now. It's because I already spent so much on this phone--time, money, software, cases. Yeah, I'm software broke now lol.

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | lol i understand, it has a free trial though, so atleast you can try before you buy! lots of money is spent on software that has no trials and you only use once i promise memory eye is not one of those apps

yea just like every other app none are required lol. it is used to monitor your memory so you dont have to thats all. it doesnt claim to do more and mike240se never claimed it did more. i dont get why people have such an issue with it the app just lets you know if your memory drops too low can be very useful for viigo or appworld users. my memory sits at 46+mb and when i used app world for 5 mins i was down to 34mb now this is not drastically low but i was shocked to see this and like to know if something uses up that much memory. and the beautiful thing about this app.....
get ready for it......
no one is forcing you to buy it!!!!!! yes can you live without it? yes you can but if you like it try it. if not who cares! hahaha

well put reaper, but i am not worried about a few people who dont think monitoring memory is important, that is their opinion and i respect it, but there are plenty of us that want to know whats going on, and memory eye offers a way to do it with an app that is only 10k in size. there are a couple other apps that monitor memory and waht not, but they are 200-300-400kb in size, which means your wasting alot of memory to monitor memory, which is why i made memory eye so tiny.

| | Ag, as much as I respect your opinions, you have got to know that there are people who do not have the same knowledge about BB memory like you, Pete, Jeff and a few others I could name.
For those that don't want to take the time to learn how to optimize, this may be just what they need.

I have no idea what your other apps are. I'm not one to load my BB up with all kinds of stuff. And chances are very high that when new apps come along, I've already got something pretty similar to it so there's no need for me to try something new or see what the next one does.
I wish you much success with your apps. Maybe one day I might actually use one.
