Default JAD file extension

Hi. I just bought my Red Pearl yesterday ...my first BB. I have tried to download the ColorPearl software that I read about on this forum but I am having an issue with the JAD file extention. My computer will not run this type of file.

I have also saved the .alx file to my desktop and tried to add using my desktop manager/Application loader but I get the following message:

"No additional applications designed for your device were found"

Any suggestions?

If you've downloaded the file, and it's in a .zip file, you have to extract it somewhere first. Once done, open Desktop Manager (DM), and double click on application loader / add / point to the file you extracted. That will allow it to install to the BlackBerry...

Better still, when looking for things to download, look for OTA (over the air) files. That way, you can browse to said website from your BlackBerry, and thus install DIRECTLY to the BlackBerry, wirelessly...

Default JAD file extension

What if... when you download an application (pc side) and it does not download as a zip file, it downloads as a .jad file? Of course, the pc doesn't recognize a .jad extension and subsequently offers the box where you choose one of two choices: Use the Web service to find the correct program; or Select a program from a list of installed programs - OK \ Cancel.

This reminds me of something... what does one do when their pc no longer has the "default WinZip" program anymore??? Aside from either downloading an unzip program, one that costs money often times, or doing a system restore... how do ya get it back?

Thanks!
LW
