I just took a quick look through the APIs and at first glance it doesn't appear that RIM gives access to the API required to do this. I'll look a little more this weekend.

The download link I sent is an OTA link, so just enter that into your browser on your blackberry. Once you have it installed check the link that was sent in the original PM it has a step by step instuctions on how get it going.

Count me in (Sprint 8330 running 4.5 carrier specific) I would be happy to test. I do this quite often now as I'm a Senior Resource Specialist for Sprint on the BWTS Blackberry support desk and also write a lot of the training curriculum for new hire inbound contact centers.

Okay...I was able to install today.

I set up the app to leave the backlight on for my e-Mobile Today Plus program, for five minutes. The first go-round, it stayed on for approx. 3 minutes, and then it dimmed out.

I did a battery pull and tried it again. The second time, it lasted the five minutes, and them some...it wouldn't go out...period, even after I changed the settings. The homescreen also stayed lit...it wouldn't go out. Now, I didn't leave it on indefinitely, because I didn't wanna drain my battery.

Also, I forgot to enter the activation code...is that bad?

Downloaded and working great! Set the time for one hour. Battery life dropped less than 3-5% after an hour- including google maps and constant e-mail notification pop ups. Thanks on the info regarding the apps.

The 3 minutes, that is strange. What will also happen with the the automatic backlight, is after the preset time you have, 5 minutes in your case, it then lets the device take control of the backlight again, so if you have your normal backlight time out set to a minute it will stay on for 6 minutes. Hope that makes sense.

For the activation it wont ask for the code until 3 days in.

Did a battery pull and its still not showing in my menu for the cam app. Not really a huge deal, just something to look for on other apps.

Testing out various time settings now.

My current setting is one hour. So, my backlight should dim out, at midnight.
