Do you mean, "How do you find out which apps are running in the background?"

If thats the case you can do that two different ways:

Hold down the menu button for a second or two, and a new slide of icons will splatter across the screen- showing all the available apps running in the background. You can select each and close it out if you wish. (Mind you, some don't close...)

OR

You can do it the old school way (My preferred method).

Hold down the alt and back button simultaneously, and the same menu will pop up. Keep holding the alt button to keep the new menu up. When you're ready to select the app, just highlight it, and let go of the alt button to select it.

Hope that helps!

The apps that are constantly running in the background and can't be shut down are Browser, Phone, Home Screen, Messages and BBM if you have it.

i guess, just think about your computer, the more apps you have running on background the more memory and processor usage is needed. oh, and don't forget about the battery comsumption.

Yes, if you have to much stuff running in the background your phone can get sluggish.

Eventually it might freeze up, or reboot to free up memory.

It's good to take a few seconds to properly close an app, then to have a random reboot at the most unoppurtunistic time-

Because it seems like that's the only time they happen!
