When you left to right swipe on the home screen a semi circle thing comes out from the left but nothing is there. I read that on pixel that is where google now appears so you can access it quickly. Is there a way to make something appear there with blackberry?

Any way to set this to open the Hub instead of Google Now?

If you have multiple home screens it will open the next page. When there isn't one there you get a semi circle that springs back. Home pages are shown by the little dots above apps button.
There is a cool app called "all in one gestures" that you can setup the left edge to open hub

Left edge swipe si not the same as left to right swipe... left edge swipe is more difficult...

I've tried the All in One Gestures app but I always activate the Hub gesture when I'm trying to swipe to open a left-side menu in an app. Got frustrating so I uninstalled.

Resize the gesture point and move it up or down.
