    so I was locked out of my phone and tried to do hard reset so, but it still keeps asking for my pin, how do i start over to a factory reset?! now it just brings me to a black screen to put the my pin in

    even when i hold the volume up key and power there is not erase data...

    Similar to BB10, if you wipe the device, the password will be gone. BUT anti-theft will come into play, where it will require you to type in your Google credentials in order to set up the device again (much like the BBID on BB10).

    No, wiping the device using autoloaders from BB's official website will wipe everything , including password lock AND anti theft.

    I did this with my dtek50 after forgetting the passcode lock ..... Works brilliant

    Had you enabled anti-theft?

    In other words, did you have a secure lock screen and a Google account?
