    Is it only me or anybody aware that phone version is kinda outdated? Is there no update for this app?

    Because the default dialer isn't the Google (Pixel, etc.) dialer, it's the AOSP one.

    What's AOSP? And does that mean that the phone app as a whole is not googles, but this other thing, ASOP?

    Android Open Source Project, the whole open source part of Android.
