When I got my first BB10 device I was full of hope. Now in hindsight I guess I was overly optimistic. Anyway, now that Android is upon us, I'm wondering whether BlackBerry's offering on Android is as safe as BB10? I would prefer technically informed answers rather than personal opinion.

You first need to define exactly what it is that you want to be safe from. Generally your biggest risk to "safety" and "security" is how you choose to use you smart device, not what potential threats might be somewhere on the Internet. Common sense goes a long way to being safe in any situation.
