Default Web Page Redirect

Does anyone know how to redirect from the root of the webserver to a different directory?

I would like to be able to redirect bes.example.com to bes.example.com/webdesktop/login so users do not have to know the entire address.

DNS perhaps? Set up a CNAME entry to do this for your users, it's one possible solution...

Depends on your webserver. If it is IIS, then it will be in the IIS Settings. For IIS 7 there is a HTTP redirect applet even.
