Given the cost of a BES license a fair few.

Have you looked at Blackberry Server Express? It's free and can handle up to 5000 handsets from memory?

I am not familiar with BES at this moment. So I need to ask a few more questions.

My corporate email is hosted under Google Apps (not business). I am now looking into managing about 15 blackberry devices. I care more about managing those devices such as no facebook or twitter etc.

So is it possible with to use Blackberry Server Express to manage those devices without installing Microsoft Exchange?

You can use BESx with Google Apps, you would still however need to have a Windows Server to run BESx on. If you take a look at the BESx requirements it will show you the minimum requirements needed.

It could also be worth a look at the various hosted BESx options for Google Apps - I know ExchangeMyMail do this as well as a company called Neonex. I'm not sure how flexible they are on implementing an IT policy to block twitter/facebook or if this is possible on BESx as not all the normal IT policies from BES are there.

Maybe you're a good candidate for Blackberry Centre?
