Question Stale Service Books

Hello,

I am on my company's BES server. I have switched BB devices several times over the past few years and even switched from AT&T to VZW to Sprint, and now back to AT&T.

When I initially setup my new Torch (on AT&T of course) I got service books pushed down for the Sprint BIS account that I had on my Tour 9630 last year.

Is that normal? Is there a way to ensure that this doesn't happen next time I perform a wipe/clean install?

I was thinking of having IT delete my BES account, then re-create it to ensure that a fresh profile is created, but the admin isn't the friendliest guy in the world. I tend to avoid disturbing him unless absolutely necessary.

Thoughts?

Just go into options, advanced options, service books to remove the extra BIS email services books. They will be names that begin with email address.

BES is backing up your device and when you activate a new device, it's restoring the old service books from BES even those that don't orginate from BES. I don't think you will receive email from the old BIS accounts but the messages and folder do appear on the new device.

Yes, your BES admin can delete your BES account and recreate it and when you activate your device again it will all be good but that's not necessary, the proper way to clean the old BIS service books would be to register your new device to your carrier's BIS and it will send the updated service books to the new device (yes you can have your device registered both to BES and BIS)

While it appears ithe BES is pushing out BIS service books, what's it's doing is restoring the prior device's settings which include service books from your prior device, that's one of the good things about BES, it backs up your device and if you switch devices, it restores everything to the new device even if you may not want it too!
