I'm running a Domino 8.01 server on the same box as a BPS and everything goes just fine. Admittedly it only serves 2 people (me and the wife) OTOH the server isn't much (Win 2K3, 3GHz P4, 768MB).

BPS can run on the same hardware as your main Domino server. Full BES requires another box, according to the system requirements.

I'm not sure about that? This document System requirements: BlackBerry Enterprise Server says that a "A nonpartitioned messaging server on the computer that you want to install the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server on" is required, to me that says that the BES requires a Domino server running on the same box. If that is the case then assuming the server hardware has enough bandwidth (and the requirements for a BES aren't that great hardware wise), then the BES can be on the same box as your principle Domino Server (also contingent on server hardware/bandwidth). That and the fact that the BPS is pretty much the same code as BES, I'm thinking it will work.
