Default Replacement Blackbeery stuck on "initializing"

One user had his blackberry torch replaced and it gave me a lot of trouble when I was trying to activate it. Using the web desktop it would see the phone and the PIN was correct. It asked if I wanted to switch my services to that device, I clicked yes but I noticed the phone never went through the activation process. Then I had to check off to use kerberos in AD under that user, I removed them from the BESX server and re-added them in. The next time I rejoined the phone it finally said "initialzing" but it never got past there. Even though the phone is emtpy is it possible I may have to wipe it?

I takes a long time via the cable.
Activate it and leave it connected with the web browser open for half an hour.

Normally works that way for me

I will give it another shot today but in the past it usually takes 15 minutes. I'll let you know if it works or not.

When you booted the BB up for the first time, did you recieve (2) messages? One from device, one from provider? If you only got one, the phone services (bb services) are not properly setup by the wireless provider. The Blackberry site has a wireless activation troubleshooter of sorts.

Do you have access to your BES? Connect the device directly to the BES for your activation.. (not sure if this can still be done on BES 5, it could be on BES 4.x.. , it can't be done if your BES are virtualized ) Maybe the connection from your browser to the BAS is slow?

Encrypting data that the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and a BlackBerry device send to each other - Administration Guide - BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange - 5.0.3

It's right there..
