Default Read Receipts Using BES/BPM

Since I have always gotten so much help on these forums, I figured I would give back as I just came across something interesting.

I always have my outlook set to never send a read receipt. This week, someone sent me a resume and then followed up a day later forwarding the read receipt, thanking me for reading his e-mail and requesting an interview. I was SHOCKED that he got that. When I saw the time of the read receipt, I realized that it must have been my BB (connected to BPS) that sent it.

Unlike what I have read about BIS having an option to turn it off, there is no setting on the actual device that allows for you to turn this off. Similarly, there is no policy on the BES/BPS for this.

I contacted my outsourced IT team and they replied back with the following link that requires a registry edit. The setting will affect all BB users but I am OK with that. I hope this helps someone else:

Default we want read and delivered receipts. Using BPM

Tried that registry fix, but it doesn't seem to help. (I know to enter 0, not one or two in the reg)

I have a few users on blackberries, and we're using BPM on our exchange server. However, my users are not getting read or delivered receipts sent to them if they send from the blackberry. (they ARE getting both when they send from outlook)

Restarted the BB services after the regedit, but still no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks!

bmurph74,

That's normal. There is no way to request either from a BB.

What the OP was refering to was the ability to not send a read receipt if somebody email YOU and request the read receipt.

Delivery and read receipt are a waste of good bandwidth anyway.
