Read Receipts Using BES/BPM
Since I have always gotten so much help on these forums, I figured I would give back as I just came across something interesting.
I always have my outlook set to never send a read receipt. This week, someone sent me a resume and then followed up a day later forwarding the read receipt, thanking me for reading his e-mail and requesting an interview. I was SHOCKED that he got that. When I saw the time of the read receipt, I realized that it must have been my BB (connected to BPS) that sent it.
Unlike what I have read about BIS having an option to turn it off, there is no setting on the actual device that allows for you to turn this off. Similarly, there is no policy on the BES/BPS for this.
I contacted my outsourced IT team and they replied back with the following link that requires a registry edit. The setting will affect all BB users but I am OK with that. I hope this helps someone else: View Document
