Default quick question for you BerryGeeks :)

I have my own BB with my own unlimited data plan which I pay for monthly out of my own pocket.

I want to be able to access my lotus notes email provided for by my company, I work for.

I think I will not be adding any extra cost to my company what do you guys think?
will I have to get in touch with my IT department to get the passswords or whever is needed to access my lotus notes emails on my personal blackberry or am I missing something and making it sound to easy?!?!?

cheers and a happy 2010..

If they put you on the BES, then you will be using up a license. If they have extra's they may not care. If not, they are typically around $100 each, so they may ask you to pay for that. If they even allow you to have a personal BB on the BES. You should definitely talk to your IT Department to find out what their policies are on this.

Also make sure that you understand that any info that you keep on there will become visible to the people that monitor the BES. Call logs, txts, BBM, and even emails.

If you don't want to go the BES route and are willing to settle for using your providers BIS you can go this way (assuming your admins have instituted iNotes) BlackBerry Cool explains Lotus iNotes/BlackBerry Internet Service integration - BBHub

Do me a favor and report back on how well it works, also tell me the version of Notes your company is running (I like to keep track of such things).

Been trying to set this up myself but with no luck at all. Not sure if those instructions are for a particular carrier but on the Telus site all those steps from #8 onward do not exist.

Heck I even looked into using iNotes on my Storm 2 but apparently it won't work. Here's the irony: it works on the iPhone!

BTW my company uses 8.5 - I think. Most users have ver 6 or 7 but I've seen one with 8.5.

That's got to be a Telus thing -- the "Notes/Domino" choice definitely shows up on T-Mobile.

If it works on the iPhone then it isn't (or probably isn't) an access issue. Did you try and fail, or did your IT people say that it wouldn't? If you tried and failed what sort of error message did you get?

The more important question is what version is your mail server running. You can check that by going to your company directory (or Name and Address book) and looking at the entry for your mail server, the version is put in there automagically by the server process. If your servers are running 8.5 there is an iNotes "ultra light" mode which (I'm told) will work with most mobile devices.

I contacted some of my peeps inside of IBM and got a litle more info:

iNotes Ultra light won't work with the current BB Browser, maybe the next one. so dynot, you don't need to get me the version number of your mail server.

I asked my friend if he could get someone at IBM to beat up the folks at Telus, but I'm not sure if that can be done.
