Questions about BB technology for UAE ban
Hello. I am doing some research on BES and Blackberry in general for an article in the local newspaper on the recent banning threat in the UAE. Would really appreciate help from the community
1) Web Browser: Does Rim do agreements with telcos to ban and allow sites on the blackberry browser? For example, I can access Skype website from my BB but not playboy. However both are banned if I use the ISP services of the telco
2) Emails: from my understanding BIS is not encrypted but BES is and every installation of BES has it's own encryption key making it impossible for RIM to provide Govts with a key to decrypt messages
3) BBM- can telcos snoop into your bum conversations
4) the local telco wants rim to put servers in the UAE so they can monitor traffic as their argument is that data currently resides in outside countries out of their jurisdiction. What kind of data passes through rim servers that can be monitored if the servers are locally located
