Default Question about BB CAL Keys and cost

I have a BB 9700 (my third BB over the past few years). I've been able to get my work email on the BB without any problem. The work email was through Microsoft Exchange/Outlook for the Web.

Now, this is my phone, not my employer's. I'm on T-Mobile and just BIS on my account.

Well, they just upgraded to Exchange 2003 (this the NYC Department of Ed....nothing moves slower) and they cut off the push of our work email to personal Blackberries.

We have been told that we have to pay $78 for a CAL. (On top of that, it's going to cost more per month with T-Mobile to get BES instead of BIS.)

My question is that $78 charge reasonable? What do these licenses cost? I've seen some stores (tigerdirect) where you can get 10 for a bit over $600.

I should add... people are not happy with this.

Thanks for any help.

$78 sounds about right. They may charge you the single license cost. Or they may be adding the maintenance cost to the license.

That's about what I paid for a single license, so it isn't totally out of line. OTOH one would think that the City of New York would be able to get some kind of volume discount.

Make sure to check your bill when you the BES service added. When T-Mo changed mine from BIS to BIS+BES I ended up getting double charged (for "BIS Service" and "BIS+BES service"). I got them to refund the extra charge, but it still shouldn't have happened.

Yes! When I went online to T-Mobile and checked to see how much it would change my bill, it added $35 to it. I already have BIS at the old $20 rate...so it should've gone up by $15.

Still not sure if I'm going to bother with the upgrade.
