Unhappy One Exchange User, Several SMTP Addresses

After perusing the threads here and searching the Web, I'm at a loss and hope there's a good soul who can help.

An exec with our company who has several SMTP addresses as part of his Exchange 2007 account just got his first BlackBerry and wants it on BES, which is good.

I created a user object for him on our BES. Since he has several email addresses all linked to one Exchange account (all listed as email addresses for his user object in AD), I need to limit emails forwarded from Exchange.

In other words, he has a@abc.com, b@abc.com and c@abc.com as SMTP addresses associated with his AD account, as well as his MAPI Exchange account. I need to prevent b@abc.com from being forwarded, but allow a@abc.com and c@abc.com to be forwarded, along with local (internal) mail.

Problem is, after setting up filtering for his user object in BES and ensuring there are no global rules forcing forwarding, ALL email still is forwarded to him no matter which SMTP account it was sent to. There is an explicit "hold" rule first in his user object filters, and explicit definition of permitted forwarding SMTP addresses as the second filter. The "if no filters apply" rule is set to "hold".

This is on BES 4.1.4 (we aren't in a position to upgrade yet). Exchange is hosted on a separate server, version 2007 SP1.

Any ideas? I'd appreciate any help, and obviously would help in return.

Thanks!

The easiest way is probably to set up an Exchange server side rule to move anything to b@abc.com to a folder and to not enable folder redirection for that folder.

Thank you CanuckBB. I may take this route if my user begins to complain. So far he's doing okay. There's so many things the device does versus his old basic cell phone, he's still learning how to just add contacts, so this one may take a lot of hand-holding!
