Default Newbie Tech question BES

I am new to BB and have been searching for 2 days straight. Someone please help.
I am connecting to my companies BES and still want to sync with my personal Outlook. Is there a way to use the BES for email only and sync contacts, calendar, memos and tasks with my desktop manager?
I have been turning wireless sync on and off all day. It seems like I am going in circles at this point. Can anyone help with this issue or find a link explaining this?
Thanks for any info in advance..

The only way you can sync your Contacts and Calendar locally and not over the air (OTA) via BES that I know of is if your BES admin creates an IT policy that does not allow wireless contacts and calendar sync. BlackBerry Desktop Manager should then recognize you are not getting them from BES and allow you to sync locally. But this is just theory as I have never tried it, and this is all predicated on the BES admin creating a custom IT policy just for you.

Also, most companies but in a BES so they protect and control any data that is passed to the handhelds. I don't know if they are going to let you do it based solely on company policy.

I have seen situations where Wireless Sync stops working for BES enabled handsets because the user has configured the sync in Desktop Manager.

Have you tried to do this Nickli? What was the outcome?

Thanks for the replies and the help.
I tired to disable wireless sync for this handset but could only disable contacts and calender. Id like to sync tasks and memos also.
How do I disable memos and tasks.

Also I am having problems getting company contacts come up when i email. I can send and recieve emails, but have to enter email address myself.

I can go into Tasks, press Options and turn off Wireless Sync on one of my test BES enabled BB devices. Ditto for Memopad. Have you tried turning this off on the device first?

For your contacts, question, assuming you are using Exchange....

Company contacts (from AD) are not "sync'ed" to the device, but when you type in the recipient name, you click on "lookup" at which point the device asks BES to query the offline address book and the device then presents the potential matches for selection.
