Default [Need tech help] New install BESX on SBS2003

Hello, I'm through my optios so hope somebody can help out.

The scenario :

* server is SBS2003
* fresh install of BESX
* created account BESAdmin, with all the rights in AD and Exchange (SendAs, Receive As and Administer Exchange info)
* used IEMStest.exe ; everything succesfull
* tested SQL connection, test succesfull
* created user on BESX webconsole
* set activation password on BESX webconsole
* Wireless activation on BB 9800 (fresh out of the box) starts
* in mailbox of user the email appears with ETP.DAT attached
* torch does nothing, after a few minutes "no response from server, user hasn't been added, or email was removed / blocked, etc

As said, I have no idea what else I can do, also tried wired activation, that came back with an error :

"Unable to retrieve specific device attributes from the device that is connected to your computer" for which I found w.blackberry.com/btsc/dynamickc.do?externalId=KB20015&sliceID=1&command= show&forward=nonthreadedKC&kcId=KB20015 (please add ww before link, I'm not yet allowed to post links) but causes their don't apply to my situation (licenses and policies)

As said, I don't knwo anymore...

I"m a Domino guy not an Exchanged guy, but it looks like the Torch can't access your server. What did you use as the server address when you tried the enterprise activation? Are the appropriate ports open on your firewall?

You said you are trying to do wireless activation. I believe you need a BES plan through your carrier to do this, not just BIS. I believe with BESx you can use a BIS plan, but must activate the phone by connecting it to a computer on your network.

edit:
Sorry, didn't see that you had tried it wired as well.

Sorry for the late reply : I did not fill in any server address, since I expected the Torch to find everything based on the email address I tried activating ?

Did you try it using an address for the server?

The fact that the ETP.DAT files arrives in the users inbox tells me that the torch is correctly provisioned and trying to activate. The problem is that the BESX isnt picking up the ETP.DAT activation request from the users inbox. I would really check the AD and Exchange permissions again. Is there anything in the event logs on the BESX server??

Are the BESX services running under BESAdmin?

Is BESAdmin a local admin?

Are you sure BESAdmin is NOT an enterprise admin?

I am late to the party, and I presume you are up and running properly now, but if not, I have seen devices not OTA due to weak cell service. I had a user who had to leave his BB out in his front yard while it activated!
