Default Need To Block External Mail & Remove Icon

Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping I can get some assistance here. Basically, I'm working on my company's BES and I'm trying to block people from using personal e-mail on their device.

I've already changed the firewall block incoming messages = BIS but as far as I can see I can still send out personal e-mails. I also cannot get rid of the icon. Is there a way to remove icons for applications and for things such as personal e-mail with an IT Policy?

This is the first time I'm doing this and while I don't have formal Blackberry training I have been given the project to come up with a suitable policy for our users.

Thank you all for your assistance

You can disable BIS e-mail accounts through the Service Exclusivity tab in your IT Policies. If they already have a BIS e-mail setup, the icon will stay on the device but they will not be allowed to send from the account anymore.

You should be able to call your service provider to have the BIS e-mail account removed, and that should delete it from the phone.

You dont mention what version of BES you are using but some general info....

IT Policies are found under the global/blackberry domain properties.

Dont modify the "Default" IT Policy. Copy it or create a new one to play around with. IT Policies can be applied to single users or groups. Test changes out incrementally. If you encounter problems, you can always push the "Default" policy back out.
