Default Migration

has anyone ever migrated from one piece of hardware to another? is there any best practices or step by step guide to go from one piece of hardware to another? this is the first time i have ever attempted but it has got to be done. they are leaving this one to me and I'm not even sure where to begin.

we are running 4.1.3.18 (for group-wise) with about 8 users and there isn't enough space on the server to install windows updates

i have a brand new server and i want to set it up correctly so that there aren't any issues with it for a long time.

We just moved to a new server... and it was pretty simple. Backup your DB. copy to your new server.. install the bes software, restore your db, register your srp.

If at all possible - use the same server name (hostname) and same BES Name (These are not the same thing...) it will make your migration much simpler.

There is a documented process called Knife Edge Cutover - it isnt as painful as it sounds :-) Have a look at RIM KB10278.

ok good i kinda got thrown into managing a server that was set up for one user and since i have taken it over more users have wanted to be on it. i was the first person to go to work for this place that had a blackberry and had worked in an eviroment that had a BES the person that set up the server set up 2 partitions on a 20 GB hard drive and loaded server 2k3 on it so the server fills up on a daily basis. i just need to get the thing set up correctly with what i have.

No problem Loranger - it would be good to get feedback here on how your cutover goes.
