Default Migrating to exchange 2010

We are currently running BES 5.1 on exchange 2007. We are about to migrate to exchange 2010 and i wanted to see if anyone knows if the bes will support mailboxes that are running on both mail systems. We are going to slowly migrate our users onto the 2010 system which will leave users scattered on both systems. I opened a ticket with RIM and all they told me was I had to move the BESAdmin mailbox to the 2010 system first and everything would be ok.

For some reason this sounds to easy and does not put me at ease. I have the proper CDO/MAPI versions to support 2010 but I just dont how well this is going to work.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or guidance from anyone who has been through a 2007/2010 migration. Thank you.

Yes BESwill supports mailboxes on both the versions. You will have to make below prereqesuites before migrating to Ex2010.
1. Upgrade BES to BES 5.0.1 MR1 and later.
2. Install and update latest ExchangeMAPICDO client from Microsoft site.
3. Implement Thtrotlling policy in Ex2010. Refer KB20608 (Smartphones, Cell Phones & Smart Phones at BlackBerry.com) for more details on this.
