Default Installing Apps Using BAS

I am extremely new to BAS (Ver. 5.0.2.28) and am hoping someone can help. My company is deploying 500+ Blackberry's over the next couple of weeks and, currently, upon activating w/ Verizon Wireless and completing the Enterprise Activation, we install 3 apps OTA. Well, I've been able to figure out how to get the user Enterprise Activated using a USB cable via BAS. One of the apps I'd like to install is Google Maps. I've published the App on BAS and have also setup the users Software Configuration. It's at that point that I seem to be lost. With the device attached, when I go to Devices -> Attached Devices -> Device Software, I get the error, "This user has not been assigned software configurations. Application loading is unavailable;" however, when I click on Users -> Manage User -> Software Configuration, it's listed there. I've tried adding the Job as part of the Group and also individually. How do I actually start the job? AM i missing something? Thank you in advance.

You need to check in the manage deployment job tasks and see if there are any application jobs in there that are still pending. Another important thing is to check that the device.xml in the apploader folder of the application share has been updated to the latest version. 10 minutes past each hour the BES tries to update the device.xml by connecting to https://www.blackberry.com/Desktop/D...XML/Device.xml

If it cannot connect to this site unauthenticated it will not update. That will mean that you can only deploy to older devices.

i guess my question is, how do those jobs get to that "manage deployment job tasks" list? if i go to Software -> Applications -> Manage Applications, the application is there, but i don't know how to push it to the phone that is currently attached to the pc.

Once you have added the application, you need to create a software configuration and add the application to the software configuration. Once this has been completed you just assign the software configuration to the Blackberry user. From this point on they should appear in the job task list.

i think that may be my problem. upon BES activating them and while still attached via usb, i am unable to access internet sites via the phone. i haven't installed a line of service w/ Verizon Wireless yet either. I've been trying to figure out ways to have as little impact on the technicians as possible. they currently have cell phones and it's those numbers that we will be using to activate the new BB Bolds, but we're trying to do so w/o taking the techs "offline."
