Default Help needed to de-activate from BES

Hi there,
I hope one of you experts can help me. (I am a very ordinary BB user with absolutely no knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes!) I have scoured the forums but cannot seem to find an answer to my problem.

I have a Curve 8900 which I have loved until I decided to be get my work emails on my BB. I was connected up to the enterprise server and from that moment onwards, my contact list on my BB synchronised onto my desktop at work but half of my contacts on my handheld disappeared. I re-entered them and found that if I ever took out the battery the contacts didnt stay. I have to keep re-entering them. They do not seem to be synchronising back from the server onto my handlheld.
I tried to synchronize manually at work using the USB cable and asking for just the address book but it said that there was no address book and didnt synchronise. I tried to import my contacts list from Outlook but it wouldnt work. I tried to do a partial restore of a previous backup hoping that it would restore my correct address book, but when I go to restore, the address book is not even listed as being available.
I then went to Options/Advanced/Deactivate from BES which shows on the handhold as being successful but I am obviously still attached to it as I am still receiving work mail and I see that my folders etc are still the ones on my Outlook at work. (Called Desktop on my address book options - there isnt even an option there to synchronise or not)

The guy who set me up said that all I had to do was deactivate from my side, and that he doesnt need to do anything from his side but I am certain something has to be done on the server. I hate not having my correct contacts on my BB and am wondering if I have to re-install any software to get my address book back? Or if it is just a setting on the Blackberry software on the Server, please give me directions on deactivating my BB so that I can send it to the (very uncaring!) IT guy (or try to log onto the server to do it myself! - if it is not too difficult!)

Sorry about the very long post - I am just desperate for help!

Your BES admin is the one to help you, as they have control over the majority of your BES sync issues including access to the BES logs that will describe the problem in great detail (sometimes TOO much detail) but they should be the ones to go to.

The only option you have to control address book sync is to be able to turn it off and back on at the device, if you go into your contact on your device, hit the BB button and select options, you should see "Desktop" under general options. Selecting wireless sync you can turn it on or off, SOMETIMES in cases were contact sync is not working correctly, turning if off then waiting awhile (10 -30 minutes) then re-enable wireless sync SOMETIMES fixes the problem.

The real solution is for your BES admin to do this as they can force a once way direction sync from your device to desktop or the other way around, from desktop to device, then once everything is correct, re-enable bi-directional sync.

The biggest problem with contact sync is that it can in some cases take as long as 4 hours to fully sync, contact sync is a low priority task in BES and such takes time to see results.

From what you saying that after enter contacts on your device and pulling the battery, they are lost, that almost sounds like your BES admin has one direction sync established from desktop to device and it is overwriting the device when it receives updates when you power back on your device.
