Your BES admin is the one to help you, as they have control over the majority of your BES sync issues including access to the BES logs that will describe the problem in great detail (sometimes TOO much detail) but they should be the ones to go to.
The only option you have to control address book sync is to be able to turn it off and back on at the device, if you go into your contact on your device, hit the BB button and select options, you should see "Desktop" under general options. Selecting wireless sync you can turn it on or off, SOMETIMES in cases were contact sync is not working correctly, turning if off then waiting awhile (10 -30 minutes) then re-enable wireless sync SOMETIMES fixes the problem.
The real solution is for your BES admin to do this as they can force a once way direction sync from your device to desktop or the other way around, from desktop to device, then once everything is correct, re-enable bi-directional sync.
The biggest problem with contact sync is that it can in some cases take as long as 4 hours to fully sync, contact sync is a low priority task in BES and such takes time to see results.
From what you saying that after enter contacts on your device and pulling the battery, they are lost, that almost sounds like your BES admin has one direction sync established from desktop to device and it is overwriting the device when it receives updates when you power back on your device.
