Default Email arrival delays on BB handsets

Hi guys,

We have BES Express v5.0.3, on a Windows Server 2008 server. We only have 15 mailbox accounts (BESx users). We have Exchange Server 2010 SP1.

This was a fresh install over 3 weeks ago. All users were created a week ago.

Users are telling me that they are receiving emails in their Outlook, however the email does not appear on their BB device straight away.

Users have to reconcile manually and only then whatever changes have been made on their Exchange mailbox will be updated on their devices - for example, whether an email has been read, received or deleted, it will only be updated on their device when they "reconcile now".

I also notice that if an email is sent at for example 1pm, and another email is sent 10 minutes later at 1:10pm, both emails will appear at the same time at 1:10pm.

I'm pretty sure the BES service should be instant, compared to the BIS service which I know is updated every 15 minutes.

Any suggestions to this?

Thanks

Jay

BES is instant....ish.
The phones still require an active cell connection, GPRS minimum (not gprs in lower case)
Have you got a device yourself for this company or are you a third party support guy?

I had a similar problem that would occur randomly with some of the users I activated. So we have BESX 5.0.3, Exchange 2003 and about 30 users. For some of the users I activated what you described would occur. I had the user log into the Web Desktop Manager and go to email and for some reason the box to automatically forward email to the device was unchecked, even though I had just added the user. Once the user checked that box and saved it mail was flowing without issue.

The environment is different but it might be worth looking at. Good luck!

I'm running a larger envornment (2000+ Globally) but even in my test/uat setup (which typically has <10 users) I saw this issue.. before I'm implemented RIM'
s guidance for MAPI throttleing policies. Ex2k10 will throttle MAPI connections by user, BES makes lots of MAPI connection and this will cause issues even when you have a small amount of users.

This RIM KB should walk you through everything you need to do:

Go to RIM's support site and look up the following KB KB22601 it will walk you through everything you need to do.

Hope this helps
Z
