Unhappy download files over https

Hi

We're unable to view Excel documents when they are downloaded over https. The same file is fine when sent as an attachment or downloaded over http, but downloading over https produces a message: "The item you selected cannot be displayed. Do you wish to save the item?". If you click "No", it says "Unsupported media type: application/vnd.ms-excel". Of course, that is the same MIME type sent when downloading over http, and it works just fine.
The same issue occurs for word documents as well.

We are running exchange 2003, BES 4.1.6

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Has anyone tested this on BES 5?

I've not seen this issue, but would recommend testing both http and https and then looking at the MDS log to see if there is any difference between the way the two requests are being handled.

yeah, we've tried that. it seems to work fine over http, just not https.

its as if there is no mime type mapping for https connections

Did you compare the entries in the MDAT log for the working and the failed connections?

that's because the BlackBerry attachment transcoder cannot deal with SSL
the transcoder needs to get in the middle which is impossible with a real ssl connection
