Default Does Browser go down if BES loses connectivity?

Maybe I just never noticed because it rarely goes down. But I lost comms at site and had users trying to use thier BB browser. None of them came up. Is the browser now dependent on BES being up?

When my BES is down I get an odd error message when I try to use the browser. I'm sorry, it occurs so rarely that I don't recall the words.

Yeah it doesn't go out to often here either. Data came back up and I tried again and it worked so Im guessing that if the BES loses Internet so do the BB's.

Yes the default for the device browser is blackberry browser when activated on BES, if your BES is down you won't be able to browse the internet unless you go into options and under Browserr configuration, change Browser from Blackberry Browser to Internet Browser then your will be using your providers internet service.

Of course unless your BES admin locks you out as this can be locked out from changing if your BES forces you to use their internet connection (to limit or monitor your internet usage though your companies internet firewall).

Little known fact that when activated on BES and using "Blackberry Browser" you should have access to intranet sites on your device that are only normally available when your are internal to your companies inside network.
