Data connections off when holstered

So I'm sitting there comfortably administrating our BES express server after activating a new batch of 9900's and out of nowhere get steam rolled by a board of unhappy users...

The battery life is terrible!

I'm looking for a method to turn off all data connections whilst the phone is holstered. My 4 hour search has got me nowhere, so can anyone here help?

It can be a free/paid App, a phone setting, a BES policy I really do not mind.

If you do that, what's the point of having a Blackberry?

Your battery issue is phone-related; can you change the phones for one of the other Bolds?
