Create BB Device Software configuration menu option missing in BAS

I've been wanting to do this for a while to make device upgrades available to users through the web desktop manager feature.


I've been told that this is possible and it is even described in RIM's interactive tutorial online, found here:


BlackBerry® Administration Service


The topic in question is described in task 50 of this tutorial.


However, I've reached a dead end at only step #2 in this tutorial because the BAS I am working on does not have the "Create a BlackBerry Device Software configuration" menu which is displayed in this tut.


I am logged in with the admin account for the BAS service so I'm guessing it is not a question of account rights that has removed this menu option.


If anyone can please point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful

I found out where to enable the missing menu function

1. In the BlackBerry Administration Service, on the Servers and components menu, expand BlackBerry Solution topology
> BlackBerry Domain > Component view > BlackBerry Administration Service.
2. Click BlackBerry Administration Service.
3. Click Edit component.
4. In the Software management section, in the BlackBerry Device Software deployment managed by BlackBerry
Administration Service drop-down list, click Yes.
5. Click Save All.
