changing from BES to BESX?

i have been given the task of finding out what work will be involved in switching from blackberry enterprise server 4.1.3.18 to blackberry express. it will be running on the same server that the bes is currently on which is a seperate server to the exchange server. Will the current bes server need to be formatted and reinstalled before i can put express on or can i just uninstall the current bes and then install express? i am finding conflicting infomation from what i have been reading so finding this task a little confusing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What OS are you running on that server?
Are you using SQL Express or a SQL box on your network?

One thing you will have to do is back up every phone, wipe it, restore it, then reactivate to the new BESX. If you have a lot of devices, it's worth the money to upgrade to the full BES5. You can do an in-place upgrade and never have to touch the handhelds.

the box is running on server 2003 standard edition with sp2, we are running the standard version of sql which comes on 2003 sbs server which is used for the exchange server.
