Default Changing BB Pin in BPS

I have a 1 user BPS install that I registered today. In troubleshooting an activation issue, I found the problem to be the handheld. I have a new handheld now, and it is working properly, but when I go to activate it fails. I am guessing that is because I installed BPS earlier using the code provided which is probably linked to the other BB's PIN. A) is that probably true and B) if true, is there any way to change the existing PIN in the BPS to the new one so I can activate (other than going to BB and re-registering and reinstalling using the new Key code).

Thanks,
Bill

Default Disregard...I found my own answer

I did get it to work by removing the BPS software and reapplying for a license key from BB. I got impatient last night and figured it couldn't mess up too much to remove/reinstall. I was able to use the same download and enter the new key after reboot. After that the BB started activating fine. In case anyone else is looking for this info, I only had to remove the BPS software, not SQL or the database or any of the other prerequsites. 2nd install went much quicker, IT policys all stayed in tact.

Some things that did not work...
Scouring the registry to find the PIN info,
Scouring the DB for the PIN info.

Thanks anyway,
Bill

Default Other Solution

You can also click "Restart BlackBerry Server" in the BPS software. That should do the trick.

I think according to what I've read, BPS, is similar to BES, except for the licensing side of things.

So, with that said, you should have been able to remove the older device (thus PIN) from BPS, and then add the new device, thus been able to activate it...

Default More notes on changing PIN...

Well after I removed and reinstalled the BPS using the newly generated key...and that worked. I happened across a few things that might have made this MUCH easier. I will share in case this comes up for someone else.

The 2 things that are needed when setting up the BPS (my version at least) and which seem tied to the PIN you use when downloading...therefore the only PIN that will be able to be used with the BPS are the SRP info and the CAL info. The SRP can be changed in BB manager on the HOME tab, under 'edit server properties' then GENERAL tab. You can then validated using the Blackberry Server Configuration tool. I think this just licenses the server, and may not be PIN specific, but it might control how many CALS you can add to the server depending on your license. Anyway, you need to change the CAL to use another device if you are using the downloaded "1 device" version, and you can do that (I found this after posting and after reloading the server...duh) by going into the BB Manager, HOME tab, Account settings -> License management. Yeah, it seems obvious now, but no-one ELSE posted it here, so I figured I'd save the next guy some looking. On the license screen you can remove the old CAL key and install the new one (you still have to apply for the software from BB to get the keys).

One funny note is that I put in the key I had from my old BB and it took it. The server now says it supports 2 devices, so I wonder if it actually would. In that case, couldn't you just apply for the software download for each new device and add the key to your server? I'm not trying to circumvent any license restrictions, but it does work that way. That is why I believe the SRP would throttle it down to 1 user. Anyway, that works fine and would save 20 minutes or so of remove, reboot, reinstall, reboot again on the mail server.

Thanks for all the help. Now if I can only learn how to type on this stupid thing.

Bill

Sorry, I meant to reply to this in my Loooong reply above, but on the 1 user license download, this will not work. I tried that when I got the new device, but it would not work while I was still using the 1 user key. It is tied to the PIN you put in when you submit for the download. On the 5 user license, it probably would as that probably isn't tied to 1 device PIN, but user count in the manager.
