Default Change carrier after BES activation

If i activate my blackberry on a hosted BES (CobWeb based in UK) over say t-mobile in the UK, but then switch to a different operator, say Vodafone, but use the same Blackberry phone that i activated, will BES pushing still work ?

and also if i go abroad for a few months and use a local sim there, will BES push work there if i dont pay any extra BES activations abroad, but simply put the local sim in to the phone that i once activated with t-mobile?

thanks for your help.

Providing you maintain the BES feature with the new carrier. Without the BES feature you have no BES access. RIM does not care about who your carrier is only that you are paying for the BES access license.

You must be paying for the BES access license for the functionality.

could you confirm/clarify the following for me as im new to BES:

there is requirement in that the specific carrier needs to have smth set up for BES traffic to get through ? i.e. for that reason i need to get "an enterprise-enabled dataplan" for the local sim card? which in practical terms means I HAVE TO pay extra for the local sim card provider for this extra BES thing the carrier needs to set up so that the BES traffic could reach the BES server from my phone? so it is definitely not sufficient to use any local sim card that just comes with an ordinary data plan for browsing etc ?

thank you for your expertise!!

BIS data (BlackBerry Internet Service) is typical of most BB user's device data service, for the full BES data service, most wireless carrier charge an addtional fee for this BES data service.

Sprint for example it's an extra $20 a month, ages ago when I was with Cingular/AT&T, it was $45 but that was back when they didn't have "unlimited" data plans and the AT&T BES data plan put unlimited data to your BlackBerry.

I have heard that some carriers don't charge but the big three in the United States (Verizon, AT&T and Sprint) all charge extra for BES data beyond the normal BIS data packages.

You only need the BES data service if you are activating your device with a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES), the standard BIS will allow internet browsing and full functionality it just won't let you sync to BES.
