Default Cannot Activate

Hi All;

New to the BES - we downloaded and installed the Blackberry Professional 4.1 software (installed on Win2003 Small Biz Server 32bit with Exchange 2003)

I have gotten the install to complete sucessfully. I opened the ports in the firewall (BBSRPTEST is successful)

The actiavtion email from RIM goes to the inbox but does not get picked up by the server. I thought it was an issue with the carrier but they have confirmed the enterprise activation is loaded for our handsets.

At this point i am at a loss becasue i cannot figure out what could possibly be keeping this from completeing! All we have is an error message that reads:
""Activation said “error” cannot connect with server, see your administrator""

I also noticed that teh server is not logging either ( or I cant' find the logs) so I can't check thoes. The email addresses appear to be correct.

Any assistance would be appreciated!!!
Thanks!!

First off - your using old server software - if you have new blackberrys or want to support html e-mail your going to want to use BESX.

Besides that point the e-mail wont get generated if it is a carrier issue, so your carrier is correct. When an e-mail doesnt get picked up by the blackberry server its probably a security/permissions issue.

Try the IEMStest.exe (C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Utility\) in the utility folder and select the user your trying to activate. I'm guessing its going to give you an error. Also make sure the account you are using isn't a domain administrator-that will cause problems and youll have to implement a different workaround for that.

If it does go through the steps in blackberry.com/btsc/KB02276 again. After you redo this list make sure to delete any old activation e-mails in the inbox.

And the logs are located in Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Logs but if you don't know what your looking for it might be a little overbearing

Silly question, but is your mailbox is within the permitted parameters?? i.e mailbox size?? etc

it needs to be able to send an e-mail back to from your mailbox.
