Default Can I Be Blocked From Getting Exchange Mail?

I join new organization month ago and have non-company issued Bold. Up to mid last week I had no problem having e-mail delivered to my handheld by setting up new mail account as work account using exchange and owa.

Last week I think they upgraded the mail server and now every three hours I get message that my password has expired. I go in and revalidate account and it validates fine but after hour or so the mail server starts blocking my request to retrieve new mail. At least that what the techs at BB told me was happening.

Is like it blocks me from grabbing new mail after an hour off revaildation but continues to allows me to ,using the work account, to send new mail and/or delete mail from hand held and outlook mailbox until the maxuim number of attempts are reach requiring revalidation of account.

Is there a sitting they could have turned on that would stop me from grabbing new mail via exchange and owa? If so why would it allow me to validate account and send new and delete old message but not grab new messages? If I'm blocked shouldn't I be blocked from all activity?

Sounds like you are on BIS....

If the BIS system fails to connect to an email account 10 times in a row, it puts it into a "Not validated" status and stops checking. Perhaps the server upgrade has not gone as well as they think and is rejecting some of the connections.

Yes I'm using BIS to retrive my mail and yes that 10 times sounds like what folks at RIM also said.

What I was wondering is this something they could have meant to do to stop folks with non-company issued BB from getting mail on their handhelds.

I can't talk to anyone in IT dept because they told me when I joined organization that they don't push e-mail to personal BB. If I go to them now and say the loophole I found is no longer working might not be well received

Your BIS account is probably using OWA to connect to your email rather than POP3 or IMAP, meaning you ought to be able to log on to the web interface via a home PC browser. Why not try and replicate the BIS functionality....logon, check email, logoff, ten times in a row and see if you can successfully do this. If you cant, then your have spotted a problem that your IT team will probably want to be aware of.

I think it's all sorted out now

I used a different url and it seems to have sorted out the problem. Not sure why the one I was using before quit working.
