Default Bold 9000 Will Not Activate on BES Express

I'm the Desktop Support/Blackberry Support guy for my office. My Syst. Admin. installed BES Express and we have migrated about 18 Blackberry users including myself to the BES Express server without issues.

I have a user with a Bold 9000 on AT&T. I backed up his device, upgraded his OS to an "official" 5.0 then tried to go thru BES activation. My Syst. Admin. set the BES password but every time we try to activate this user's device we get the following error on his Bold......................

The Blackberry Enterprise Server has not responded to your
activation request. An error may have accurred.

I also have another user who is on AT&T with an 8300 series Curve and he is having the same issue. He cannot go thru BES activation.

The weird part is that I have another user on AT&T with a Bold 9000. I upgraded his device to the latest "official" OS and his device rolled thru BES activation with no problems.

Any thoughts as to what might be causing this issue?

That is curious and I have no solution for you, but the following worked for me.

I tried a few days ago to move my Bold 9000 from BBP to BESX and could not get the activation to occur due to timeouts. I reset my router to make sure port 3101 was pinholed properly. I waited a while and tried again, no joy.

So today I did a device wipe from Options | Security Options | Security Wipe | Emails, Contacts, Etc. I did not wipe anything else. While the security wipe occurred I removed my user from BPS, then added the user in BESX.

Once all that was complete I issued a new password on the BESX and entered it in the Enterprise Activation app on the Bold with the email address, I specifically did not enter the server name. Within seconds the activation started and in a few minutes everything was fully set up.

I did lose my BBM contacts and old emails, but that is fine to me.

I forget, on AT&T, do you need the Enterprise data plan to get BES / BESX? I know Verizon was forcing that issue against RIM's wishes. Did AT&T jump in also?

Good point, I did not think of that, I do still have my BES service on ATT.

The OP has two ATT phones that will not update and one ATT phone that did update, curious.

Default Confirm

I can confirm that I have the same problem with BES Express and Bold 9700.

The server works fine with 8900.
With 9700, wireless activation does not work. USB activation works, and syncs while connected by USB, but after disconnecting USB, only outgoing mails work - no incoming mails.
