Blackberry's random loss of connection and sync

I have two blackberry storm 8530's connected to Blackberry Enterprise Server Express (just installed in June). Both lost connection at approximately 12:03am and 12:05am (according to the server), on the same night and would not sync with their Outlook emails, text or connect to the internet but they were able to make phone calls via Verizon. The phones required a hard reset to work again. The same thing happened yesterday but only one of the phones "froze up" and the battery had to be pulled 3 times before it started working. Also, the problem did not occur before upgrading to the most recent server version or adding a second user. Any help would be great.

I am in the Ohio area and have noticed that the signal letter are lowercase (meaning voice only) Have the user/s be able to notice that they don't have UPPER case letters ... if that is the case go to connections and disable the mobile network... wait a few moments for the signal meter to say "off" then re- enable it. Also for Verizon it is recommended to do the *228 every other month... seems to help my users. About the phone freezing... see what crappy software the user has installed that might be locking it up.
