Default Blackberry Enterprise Exchange Server Express

Hi, I'm a newbie but I did read all 44 pages of posts on the 8830 last night.

In the past I've used Treo's and Q's with exchange active sync. Currently I'm using Desktop redirector which seems to work OK except the redirect emails that show up in my inbox and quickly disappear don't always disappear when I'm accessing webmail from home (30 lat night).

If I download and install BESX is this any big advantage over the redirect other than the obvious of leaving my desktop on all the time? Should I use the same install guide in the BES 2007 exchange sticky for the BESX version?

    Welcome!

To use BES Express, you need to host (or have access to) your Exchange Server (i.e., on the same WAN). You also need to have a BES plan.

All the IT guys work for me so access is no problem. Does the Verizon data plan include BES does anyone know? If not what is the cost? Will express work with exchange 2007?

    Hi,

We just set up our BES server late last week. We are going through AT&T and we had to purchase user licenses separately for our BES, which we bought from RIM. We purchased five users for about $490 but there are other options. The data plan through AT&T is independent of the BES license, probably the same with Verizon. We are using exchange 2003 so I do not know if it will work on exchange 2007

My IT guy (and myself) went to the RIM site to get a copy of this software. It then directed us to another web page where info is filled in and they mail a copy to us. Does that sound right? Some of the posts here make it sound like it should be available for download...?
Plus, it has been a few weeks no and we have to receive anything.
I have my mail working on the Exchange but I really need real time (I am in health care and sometimes 15 minutes is too long to wait).

You've had a few concerns, so I'll try to address them all:

-The Verizon data plan does not necessarily include BES data...check with them for costs and if you already have it enabled.

-BES Express will work with Exchange 2007, but it can't be installed on the Exchange 2007 server...you'll need a stand alone server platform

-if you haven't had any email contact from RIM, contact their customer service center (877-255-2377) and ask about it.

-You will need to have CALs for each user on the BES....there may be a promotion where with the BlackBerry Professional Software (replaces BES Express), you could get 5 free CALs, but i don't know if its still going on.

I think that addresses all your major concerns. Hope that helps.

You should get a link to download BES Express. Like the previous post, call customer service.

Hmmm - my previous post did not work.
I am on Sprint (not Verizon) and have the BES plan.
I called RIM as suggested and they said that this offer or software (or both) expired at the end of 2007. My IT guy called as we had an order placed and valid order number from........12/31/07 - whew.
For whatever reason it did not go through.
But my IT guy is downloading it all now. Thank heavens and thanks for the help.

What all tricks and or quirks should we look out for.
I think I have one question right out of the gate. What happens to all of the BIS accounts I set up. Can I have this Express BES account sitting there on the side along with all of the BIS accounts I have...?

Yes, you can have 1 BES email, and up to 10 BIS emails all at the same time.
